A question: What is the definition of 'explanation'. We view 'explanation' as a set of opinions one may have... in this case, and seen from the Israeli perspective .... about what is a concern to them. You need to overshadow existing thoughts with those of yours to make yours as true and finally to take care that yours becomes an authority. That is exactly what hasbara is used for. Hasbara only focuses on the dissemination of positive information abroad about the Israelis themselves and what they do (against the Palestinians). For instance: "We have attacked targets in Gaza". It should be "We have destroyed targets in Gaza" because they don't provide evidence that shows what identity the targets really had. And you can only claim that the selected targets were of military objectives if you provide evidence that shows that these targets were of military objectives. But we're not naive. The Israelis never provide objective evidence. The way the Israelis provide information reminds us of the way the Russian MoD provides information about Putin's war in Ukraine. Because, both carry the character of ... let us say: "You may lie if it is to defend yourself". And so we view Israeli "investigations," including the 2014 Gaza War and the assassination of Al Jazeera's Shireen Abu Akleh. Everything that has happened or is still happening between the Israelis and the Palestinians are no isolated incidents. For instance: When the Israelis in June 2014 blew up the house of a Palestinian who was suspected of being behind the missing settlers, while the destruction affected his whole family, Hamas responded by firing rockets. The Israelis don't tell you why Hamas fired rockets. They only tell you "Hamas fired rockets". Now, that is hasbara in practice. And so the world has been taught that Gaza wars are by Hamas. It is the same with the war in Ukraine. The general view is that the war began with the invasion of Crimea. That is only because not everyone is interested in what has led to that war. In reality, the war began with Putin's scrapping of the Budapest Memorandum to pave the way for an attack on Ukraine to seize Crimea. However, this act didn't come out of the blue. It was an act of revenge after he had to see the then-president of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, fleeing to Russia. There is a banner on top of this website that summarizes the roots of the war in Ukraine. The banner on top of the website you're now visiting may look to have a similar meaning. However, the banner is actually a message to bring awareness that the real roots of the situation the Palestinians struggling with for more than 70 years, is simply erased by the East Europeam Jewish migrants, the descendants of the East Europeam Jewish migrants, and the countries who supported the self-naming by the East Europeam Jewish migrants into "Israelis". The support only came to exist after the Jewish terrorist attack in 1948 on the Swedish UN diplomat Folke Bernadotte outside Jerusalem. Those who became the first to support are also those who are part of the more than 70-year-old problem. Wars don't take place all of a sudden. They always have a run-up leading to a war, and that is also the issue about all wars in Gaza. In 2012, the US, who ironically is part of the problem, managed to revive peace talks between the Israelis and the Palestinians. The talks took more than a year to reach an agreement that included the release of Palestinian prisoners of war* in four batches. Three batches of POWs were released in 2013. The fourth would be in April 2014. It didn't happen as Netanyahu all of a sudden decided not to release the fourth and last batch. Why? Well, not because of conditions that weren't in the agreement. It has to do with this macabre and complete un-Western issue: Israelis collect the dead bodies of Palestinians they have killed and keep these bodies in unmarked graves to stockpile for a bargain. When, in May 2014, the Palestinians still didn't see prisoners coming out from prisons inside Israeli territory, a massive protest in the West Bank broke out. Netanyahu has jeopardized the peace process by a sudden decision not to release the 4th and last batch of prisoners. But, there is something that could be an connection between Netanyahu's decision and the start of the Gaza War in 2014: it's the missing of three settlers who later were found dead, noting that the Israelis knew about the missing weeks before the start of the war on July 1, 2014 But, Netanyahu was accusing Hamas for the missing and the death while no investigation was launched. He vowed that "Hamas must pay". The cover of an Israeli "investigation" about the Gaza War 2014 bluntly reads, "Israel didn't want war, and the disaster it averted". That is a lying disseminative title and mirrors "You may lie if it is to defend yourself". There's even a video from January 2009 in our archive showing Netanyahu telling CNN that "Hamas must be destroyed". The second part of the title is completely absurd. Because, Israeli helicopters dropped leaflets over Central Gaza which reads that the people should leave the area. However, Israeli self-propelled guns at the border where firing on Gaza City, the direction the people where ordered to leave to. The Israelis are using two doctrines when they wage war on Gaza: 1. The Hannibal directive, which is a "classified" controversial protocol - named after the prehistoric Carthaginian general - allows Israeli artillery and fighter jets to stage heavy bombardment near the locations of captured soldiers. What they allow themselves is, by international law, a war crime. 2. The use of the directive to treat everything that moves and not moves as Hamas. This amounts to genocide. The Israelis were simply creating a human catastrophe. ---------------------- |
